If you’ve ever considered taking your education a step further, you should look to your installation for more information and assistance. They can help you decide if receiving an advanced degree is right for you, tell you which local colleges and classes are offered and find out if you’re eligible for tuition assistance. The Voluntary Education Center, or Installation Education Center, is available to help you put together a plan to advance your education.
Military spouses can also choose to engage with an education and career coach through the DoD’s Spouse Education and Career Opportunities program, or SECO. These coaches can assist them in exploring multiple tools, resources and information to reach their educational goals. To contact a career coach call 800-342-9647 or visit https://myseco.militaryonesource.mil.
The base education center is the original point of contact for any adult education questions. JBLM is very fortunate in its ability to offer a wide variety of academic and career skills course work, most of which is available at times and days to suit both military and civilian personnel. Through the programs offered at the local and base education services, for the most part, their 2-year programs can be transferred to 4-year colleges.
JBLM has one of the largest and most active educational programs in the Army & Air Force. College courses are offered on JBLM both at McChord Field& Lewis-Main in cooperation with Pierce College, Brandman University, Saint Martin's University, Southern Illinois University, University of Maryland University College, Central Texas College, and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. On-installation colleges offer Certificate, Associate's, Bachelor and Master degree programs.
Most of the colleges on JBLM installations have offices located within the McChord Field and Stone Education Center at Lewis-Main.
Education is an important part of our existence, and there are many community colleges and universities within easy access from the installation. The Education Centers on JBLM offer a wide range of college courses. Call for information on what is available and how to transfer college credits.
