Policies and rules for shipping pets vary at each installation. It’s important to understand the regulations, prohibitions and laws at your new installation before moving with a pet. Below, you’ll find installation-specific details for registering, boarding and transporting your pet.
If you need to fly with your pet, please check with the airlines for their requirements. There are no pet quarantine laws when relocating to JBLM.
If you are re-entering the US from a foreign country, check CDC guidance on entry restrictions effective August, 2024.
Personnel residing on JBLM must register their pets with the housing office and the Veterinary Treatment Facility at 768 Warehouse Road on JBLM-McChord upon arrival. Requirements for pets living in base housing include proof of current rabies vaccination, microchip and a DAPP vaccination for dogs or a FVRCP vaccination for cats.
Personnel residing off the installation should follow vaccination, licensing and registration requirements set by the city/county in which they reside.
JBLM has contracted with The Pet Brigade to provide pet boarding services on the installation. The Pet Brigade can be reached at 253-912-4898.
If you are planning to fly with your pet, please check with the airline for specific requirements.
If you will be driving with your pet, a health certificate issued by a licensed veterinarian is required for interstate travel.
The Joint Base Lewis-McChord Veterinary Treatment Facility is located at 768 Warehouse Road on JBLM-McChord.
