Legal Assistance is available at JB MDL. The 87th Legal Office advises active duty members, retirees, family members, and other eligible clients on their legal affairs by delivering preventive law information and consulting on civil legal issues. The JB MDL Legal Office can be reached at 609-754-2010.
Services include: family law, consumer protection, personal property, landlord/tenant disputes, power of attorney, wills, and notary public services.
Legal Services Not Available
A military legal assistance attorney cannot represent members in a civilian court or in an administrative hearing. Legal assistance attorneys cannot offer legal advice on criminal issues, official military matters (such as promotions, assignments, or administrative actions), or matters involving your personal business (except Servicemembers Civil Relief Act issues). In these cases, or in other cases requiring specialized knowledge of particular areas of the law, the Legal Office may recommend consultation with a civilian attorney.

The Region Legal Service Office does not staff a Lakehurst office Monday through Friday and the phone lines indicated are not monitored. It might mislead people into believing that a genuine office still exists where they could go for assistance during the listed days/hours.
The US Navy's Region Legal Service Office Mid-Atlantic Branch Office Earle is responsible for providing legal services to eligible personnel. Services include notaries, powers of attorney, estate planning, advice concerning family law, consumer issues, housing/Landlord-Tenant, civil lawsuits/litigation, etc. Branch Office Earle does NOT staff an attorney for in-person consultation services but customer services such as notaries, powers of attorney and estate planning executions ARE still available and staff are able to facilitate telephone consultations for clients who require an attorney's advice.
