Deployment can be a challenging phase of the military lifecycle, but it’s important to know that you don’t have to go through it alone. The military provides a variety of resources and support programs — ranging from educational briefings to morale calls — for your loved ones, children and service members to ease the stress of deployment. Military members may be assigned to a specific installation but support may come from local communities, Yellow Ribbon events or the installation itself.
Family Deployment Support
The Military & Family Readiness Center offers support and resources to family members who are currently experiencing or expecting an upcoming 30-day or more separation due to deployment, remote tour, or temporary duty. Please connect with the Military & Family Readiness Center to be added to our monthly distro list and request resources such as calendars, children’s activities, books, etc. to aid you while your service member is away. Important numbers to have on hand - American Red Cross (877-272-7337), your units’ Key Support Liaison, Ombudsman, and Family Readiness Group Point of Contact.
The M&FRC hosts a “Hearts Apart” event from 5:30-7:30 p.m. to include a light dinner and an activity. "Knowing your Resources" Workshops are provided to support and assist individuals and groups with identifying community resources and tips on how to maintain resiliency before, during and after a deployment. For more information, please call the M&FRC at 609-754-3154.
If your family is relocating to another area during your deployment, be sure they understand the reason for the separation. Be certain that your spouse and older children are aware of your financial system: bills, checkbook, lock boxes, bonds, and insurance. Be sure that all identification cards are valid. Check that the automobile your spouse will be using is in good repair and that all registrations and licenses are current. You may want to check into getting a general power of attorney or a special power of attorney for your spouse.
