Emergency Assistance

For immediate emergency assistance, dial 911. For non-emergencies, call the military police at 910-449-4259. The victim advocate emergency phone number is 910-376-2155.

The American Red Cross can also help in times of emergency. Quick communications with home about family emergencies is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including verification of death or serious illness of immediate family, birth announcements to fathers deployed overseas, and health and welfare reports resulting from a lack of communication over a long period of time.

The American Red Cross also offers financial assistance for military personnel and their immediate families in the form of interest-free loans or grants when a loan would place a greater hardship on the family. The American Red Cross office may be reached by calling 910-449-4756. 

Examples of need for financial assistance are:

1. Emergency leave expenses for the service person or his/her family member
2. For family necessities which may result when an allotment check is not received or delayed
3. For personal needs of an essential and emergency nature; and for convalescent leave expenses

The Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society can also help in emergency situations. They provide several programs and services to assist active-duty and retired Sailors, Marines and their families. Available services are:

1. Budget for Baby Workshop - Offers financial planning and budgeting for baby's arrival.
2. Quick Assist Loans - interest-free loans for active-duty Marines and Sailors, up to $1000.
3. Emergency Travel - Serving active-duty and retired Marines, Sailors, and their eligible family members.
4. Budget Counseling and Financial Education - Create and manage monthly budgets with a trained case worker.
5. Visiting Nurse Program - Free visit from nurses to answer questions and provide education on a wide range of health topics for your baby.
6. Assistance in loans for medical and dental not covered by insurance, funeral expenses, essential car repairs, pay and allotment problems, and disaster assistance.
7. Volunteer Opportunities - Mileage and childcare reimbursement and develop professional working skills.

Emergency Food Assistance

The chapel aboard the air station maintains a food locker for emergencies. All they ask is that when the service member gets back on their feet, they replenish the supply!
