Policies and rules for shipping pets vary at each installation. It’s important to understand the regulations, prohibitions and laws at your new installation before moving with a pet. Below, you’ll find installation-specific details for registering, boarding and transporting your pet.
Licensing and Registration
Pets in this area need vaccinations yearly. Dogs should be tested for heartworms and placed on preventative medication year round. Rabies vaccinations (usually good for one to three years depending on the age of the animal) are required to be kept up to date.
South Carolina law requires that all dogs and cats be licensed. They must be 4 months old and be vaccinated against rabies. Licenses can be obtained at veterinary offices and the county court house.
All pets must be registered within 30 days of coming aboard base property. Registration is accomplished by bringing a current rabies vaccination certificate to the Veterinary Clinic, building 517A Alaska St, Beaufort, SC 29902.
