Contact your sponsor if you need transportation from the airport to the base. The base is 51 minutes away from the airport.
If you arrive at Mountain Home by commercial means, call your sponsor from the Visitor Center, at the main gate. Your sponsor or unit representative will arrange transportation onto the base or the base taxi can be reached at 208-828-2215. If you arrive by taxi, the taxi driver must be sponsored onto the installation by the military member through the Visitor Center, Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. excluding holidays and family days. Outside of the hours listed above, visitor passes may be obtained at the main gate or call 208-828-2256 for assistance.
Your sponsor can be a valuable help to you during your in-processing and should be the first person you contact when you arrive here. In-processing sign-in takes place with your unit Command Support Staff during normal duty hours. All your processing and mandatory appointments will be scheduled for you through your CSS. Upon notification of your pending assignment to Mountain Home Air Force Base you should be assigned a sponsor from your new unit. If you don't have a sponsor and need one, please call your gaining squadron or unit's Commander Support Staff (CSS) if known. If you choose to marry before your Permanent Change of Station and wish to ensure a smooth transition, it is essential to inform the relevant authorities. Notify your Commanders Support Staff, base Military Personnel Flight, as well as the base Finance office. Enrolling your new spouse into the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System is of utmost importance. Following the enrollment, we recommend contacting Tricare at 800-847-2273 to ensure your spouse's access to necessary healthcare benefits.
To facilitate the process, it may be necessary to request an amendment to your orders, adding your new spouse. When enrolling your spouse or new family member into DEERS, please ensure you have the required documents on hand, including your marriage license, your spouse's birth certificate, social security card, and a valid picture ID, such as a driver's license.
Additionally, we advise adhering to any other guidelines or procedures provided by your base MPF to ensure a seamless experience. It is essential to note that failure to follow proper procedures may result in the military not covering travel and housing expenses for your spouse.
In the event you marry while enroute, it is crucial to notify your current squadron CSS, base MPF, and base Finance before out-processing from the base. They will provide you with any relevant instructions. Once married, please contact the Mountain Home MPF at 208-828-2133 and follow the provided directions to have your new spouse added to DEERS. Depending on your circumstances, you may be directed to the nearest enroute base for the enrollment process.
Please be aware that the Mountain Home AFB MPF office is closed on the first Wednesday of each month for Career Development. We kindly request that you plan accordingly to ensure a timely and efficient addition of your spouse to DEERS.
If you have any further inquiries or require additional assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out. We are here to help and provide guidance throughout this process.
