Programs and services are available at most installations for children up to age 12. Care may be provided in Child Development Centers, School Age Care Programs, and Family Child Care Homes. NAS Fallon offers a variety of childcare including a Child Development Center, and a Youth Activities Program. Programs are available to eligible patrons ages 6 weeks to age 12.
NAS Fallon's Child Development Center (CDC) offers full-time care for children in the infant, pre-toddler, toddler and pre-school age groups. The Child Development Center (CDC) is located at Building 1001, 1001 Juniper Drive, Fallon, NV 89496-5000 and can be reached at 775-426-3808.
The Child Development Center (CDC) offers full-time care for children ages 6 weeks to five years. The center is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The CDC is under USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program and serves children breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack daily.
Drop-in services can be arranged for care for all ages. Respite care is available and can be requested through Fleet and Family Services or the Base Chaplain. Programs within the CDC are developmental in nature to meet the social, physical, emotional and cognitive needs of children.
Hours of Operation -- The center is open from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Closed on Federal Holidays or by days designated by executive order.
Eligibility/Priority Care
Authorized dependent care, ages six weeks through kindergarten age, of military personnel, active duty as well as NAF Employees, DOD civilian personnel and contractors are eligible to use the NAS Fallon Child Development Center. A priority placement will be used to place children for services.
Fees
The Chief of Naval Personnel, with guidance from the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), requires childcare fees be re-established and set for each new fiscal year. This requirement is a result of the Military Child Care Act of 1989.
Child Development Center fees are based on total family income (TFI) and apply to all children who attend on a regular basis. TFI is defined as "all earned income including wages, salaries, tips, long-term disability benefits, voluntary salary deferrals, quarters allowances, and subsistence received by any adults, married or not, residing together as one economic unit and sharing living expenses toward the benefit of the children in residence. Family income includes pay for service in a combat zone or anything else of value, even if it not taxable that was received for providing services. (Ref.: 1700 Ser N93MP/0215 letter dated 02 Dec 2003) The fees for full time care are based on total family income as verified by parent's most recent leave and earning statement (LES) and spouse's most recent pay stub. Meals are included in weekly fees.
There is a non-refundable registration fee for full-time care. This non-refundable fee is accredited back in the first month's care.
An hourly rate for drop-in care applies when space is available. A late pick-up fee applies for when children are picked up late. Fees include all meals and snacks. For more information on fees, please contact the CDC.
Registration/Enrollment Requirements
Prior to the initial admittance, parents must complete a Request for Care (DD Form 2652) form, to be completed by the sponsor This can be done by accessing www.militarychildcare.com . Parents must show proof of child's immunizations. Parents enrolling their children for full-time care are required to bring a copy of their LES, spouse's pay stub. All registered patrons must attend a parent's orientation seminar.
The Child and Youth Programs include the Child Development Center (CDC), School Age Care (SAC), the Youth Activities (YA) Programs are certified through CNIC, NAEYC or COA based on program requirements and guidelines.
Patron Eligibility
All children of active military personnel, DoD civilian personnel paid from appropriated funds and non-appropriated funds, reservists on active duty or inactive duty for training, DoD contractors, National Guard, and active duty Coast Guard personnel are eligible for youth services.
Deceased service members' children are eligible for youth services up to 180 days after the death of an active duty service member. Installation Commander may grant extension beyond 180 days for good cause, if warranted by circumstances and set forth by the parent/guardian.
Children of divorced or legally separated parents must reside with the active duty sponsor to be eligible for services. Foster-care children residing in a military home can also receive services.

School Age Care (SAC)
The School Age Care (SAC) program is offered at the Youth Activities Center for children ages 5-12 (grades K-12). This program is designed to meet the needs of working parents with children in school who need a safe and fun atmosphere with age appropriate activities.
The SAC program includes winter break activities, spring break activities, summer activities programs to accommodate children.
Activities include bowling, swimming, and library trips as well as regular base field trips and tours. Daily activities include arts and crafts, and organized recreational activities during the camp day as well as during the before and after school program.

Teen Center
The Teen Center is located at building 980. The teen center is a recreational program for youth in grades 7-12 or ages 13-18. Events consist of dances, pool parties and time to just hang out with friends and have fun. Teens have access to computer lab, music room, gaming room including numerous gaming systems, darts, pools, foosball and more. There is a media room, as well as an arts room. The Teens meet up to go trips outside of Fallon as well as on the base. Every third Friday of the month is Youth Sponsor night; youth. The teen center is open to all eligible patrons, and for those that are active duty or retired, they can be eligible for scholarships as the Military Youth of the Year. Transportation is provided for youth after school from Fallon schools to the Teen Center.
