When planning for a move with the military, you might consider moving into government housing. Government housing is owned and maintained by the Department of Defense and is typically on the installation. Eligibility and availability for this type of housing may vary by service member, family size and installation. Learn more about the different options, benefits and discounts that may be available to you through government housing.
Government housing consists of townhouse type quarters with small fenced front and back yards. Storage is limited. Refrigerator, dishwasher, washer, and dryer are provided. Units have central heat and air condition, AFN cable, basic phone service, ADSL internet service, and 110/220 volts. Be advised that Italy's electricity runs on 50 Hz vice 60 Hz (US).
We have one housing area/location, consisting of 3 & 4 bedroom units for all grade categories. Marinai is located about 7 miles from the support site and is only Military Family Housing (MFH). Assignment to government housing is based on the first two available/vacant units in your grade and bedroom category.
In keeping with our desire to maximize established quality of life benefits, accompanied military personnel are currently being directly assigned into government family housing, according to arrival date, paygrade, and family composition. Only two (2) pets (dog, cat, or combination) are permitted in family housing.
The waiting periods for Military Family Housing are zeroed out if the "Door-2-door" procedure is applied via the sponsor. Contact the Housing Service Center to have more information. Housing recommends to put linen in the hand luggage or to ship them in advance to the sponsor to have them immediately available upon arrival to house.
Our quarters' size average from 1,354 (3-bedroom) to 1,495 (4-bedroom) square feet and have 1 carports. Adjust household goods shipment accordingly and place non-essential items in non-temporary storage before leaving your duty station.
House floor plans are included in the “Welcome Aboard Package” that can be requested in advance prior to arriving at NASSIG-HousingHelpDesk@eu.navy.mil.
Members arriving in Sigonella should submit their application prior to arriving through “HEAT” or the sponsors. Once here, they have to report to the Housing Service Center no later than 48 hours to complete their housing check-in process. Request “Welcome Aboard Package” or any other information at NASSIG-HousingHelpDesk@eu.navy.mil and visit the Navy Housing website or the NASSIG Housing Facebook page for more information.
