With certain military moves, you may find yourself looking for housing that’s a little less permanent before making long-term arrangements. There are several temporary housing options that may be right for you. Explore the information about temporary housing facilities including allowances, lodging rates and eligibility.
Temporary Lodging Allowance
Temporary Lodging Allowance is intended to partially pay a service member for higher than normal expenses incurred by a member or dependent while occupying temporary lodging OCONUS. TLA is available when it is necessary for a service member or dependent to occupy temporary lodging upon arrival at or immediately before leaving a permanent duty station OCONUS. Normally, personnel E4 and below are directly assigned to the barracks and only receive TLA if space was not available. TLA can be terminated if adequate permanent housing is declined.
Personnel are required to pay for lodging up-front with a government travel card and then file claims for reimbursement every 10 days. Reconciliation for reimbursement at NAS Sigonella is authorized by the Housing Office and processed by CPPA/Command Admin Personnel. Hotel accommodations must be made at the Navy Lodge if space is available.
Housing does not process temporary lodging claims for civilian personnel or contractors.
