With certain military moves, you may find yourself looking for housing that’s a little less permanent before making long-term arrangements. There are several temporary housing options that may be right for you. Explore the information about temporary housing facilities including allowances, lodging rates and eligibility.
Reservations, Costs, Rates and Pet Policy
All single and unaccompanied personnel in grades E1 to E4 are directly assigned to the barracks, therefore, Temporary Lodging Allowance is not authorized. The Housing Service Center, Assignment and Termination branch will assist the sponsors. Single and unaccompanied E5 and above will be living in economy housing in town and TLA is authorized for 60 days.
Navy Lodge is the first option for on-base TLA. You can reach the Navy Lodge by phone at DSN 314-624-4082 or Commercial 011-39-095-86-4082.
Other on-base facilities are the Navy Gateway Inns & Suites rooms located on both bases, NAS 1 & NAS 2. They can be reached at DSN 624-6832 or Commercial 011-39-095-56-6832
Navy Lodge (NAS 1)
If both the Navy Lodge and NGIS do not have availability, Navy Lodge will issue a certificate of non-availability for authorized off-base Temporary Lodging Allowance. Housing, NGIS and Navy Lodge can assist with a list of off-base TLAs to make your transition as smooth as possible
The Navy Lodge is located on NAS 1 and is within walking distance of the Navy Commissary/Exchange, Defense Department Dependents School, base indoctrination classroom (INDOC), the Housing Office, the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Complex, Fleet & Family Support Center and many other facilities. The Navy Lodge currently has pet-friendly rooms available, but they must be reserved prior to your arrival. Pets may not weigh more than 50 pounds each, you may not room with more than two pets and each pet must have its own kennel and updated shots. Please make sure your sponsor is aware that you will need a pet room while staying at the Navy Lodge. If there are no pet-friendly rooms available at the time of your arrival, you will have to work with your sponsor to make reservations at one of the TLAs.
Each command has a command pass coordinator who is required to ensure you receive the appropriate information about authorized Temporary Lodging Allowance facilities, the numbers of days authorized and the processes for obtaining reimbursement. Do not make arrangements to move into a TLA until you have talked to your command representative. If you do not properly plan your TLA, you may end up paying out of pocket without reimbursement. Temporary Lodging Allowance is a reimbursable expense so be sure to plan ahead.
