Deployment can be a challenging phase of the military lifecycle, but it’s important to know that you don’t have to go through it alone. The military provides a variety of resources and support programs — ranging from educational briefings to morale calls — for your loved ones, children and service members to ease the stress of deployment. Military members may be assigned to a specific installation but support may come from local communities, Yellow Ribbon events or the installation itself.
The Fleet and Family Support Program and each command work together to help make deployment as easy as possible for the families of deployed military personnel. Programs such as the Ombudsman Program, Trips and Tours, and Concourse West (gym) are available to your family.
If your child is having difficulty coping with the stress of a parent's deployment or the demands placed on military families, you can schedule an appointment with the Navy Region Northwest's child counselors by calling 866-854-0638. The NRNW child counselors support active-duty military members, their children and families in dealing with a wide range of child-related concerns such as discipline challenges, anger management, grief and loss, moving, domestic violence, abuse and neglect. Deployment support is available to help children understand their parent’s deployment and provide an opportunity to express their concerns and learn age-appropriate coping skills.
Pre-deployment briefs are provided at command request.
Individual Augmentee briefs are available by appointment/request. For information or assistance with deployment or to schedule an individual augmentee brief, please contact the Fleet and Family Support Program at 360-396-4115 or toll free at 866-854-0638.
