Most military spouses are eligible to file an unemployment claim in the state of Washington if you voluntarily quit your job to accompany your sponsor on permanent change of station orders and meet the required 680 hours of covered employment. Be sure to check with the state unemployment office prior to resigning your position to learn about additional requirements.
The best way to file your claim is to apply online with the Washington State Employment Security Department at: esd.wa.gov. You can also apply by phone at 800-318-6022. For a complete list of the documents and information you will need in order to file a claim visit the Washington State Employment Security Department website.
Keep in mind you may be initially considered ineligible and have to file an appeal because you left your job voluntarily. This is normal and most military spouses win the appeal.
