The Oasis Teen Center

The Oasis Teen Center is for 7th (and 12 years old) through 12th grade teens. The Teen Center is open during the school year: Thursday/Friday 3 p.m. - 7 p.m., Wednesdays 2 p.m. - 7 p.m. and Saturdays 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.  The center is open on non-school days Wednesday to Saturday 2 p.m. – 8 p.m.  There is no cost for the program and registration is required.

The Oasis Teen Center utilizes Boys and Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) and 4-H programming.  Teens can play table games, watch movies, listen to music, surf the Internet, play pool, play video games, or play basketball on the outdoor patio. The teen center schedules monthly events with input from the teens.

Navy Youth Sports and Fitness

The Youth Sports program provides organized sports for children ages 3 to 18 years. Examples of the sports offered are: soccer, flag football, swim team, dance, cheerleading, basketball, and baseball. YSF also offers clinics throughout the summer and winter camps at SAC.  Fees vary based on the type of sport being offered and registration is required to participate. NSGB School Liaison (SL)

The School Liaison is in place to serve as the central point of contact between Navy Region Southeast Commands and the school system in the area. The School Liaison specializes in serving military students and parents and offers a wide spectrum of services enabling families to become more involved in their child’s educational experience.

SLs provide:

• Information on local schools and boundaries
• Assistance with school choice
• Home schooling regulations
• Inbound/outbound transfers
• Graduation requirements
• Schools & community outreach
• Understanding the special education process
• Agency referrals
• College readiness
• Home school lending library & network

Youth Sponsorship Program

There is a growing interest in supporting military children as they move with their military family from one assignment to another. Listed below is a result of some of these initiatives in this area.

• S2S (Student 2 Student) here in NSGB is our student-led, school-based outreach to arriving students. They assist new students in three areas: Academics, Relationships, and Find the Way.
• YSP (Youth Sponsorship Program) here in NSGB is our peer-to-peer, CYP/Community-based outreach for arriving students. Youth Ambassadors help students connect - to each other, their family, and the base community and their future.

These initiatives are to help students and families focus more on what they're gaining instead of losing in relocating and make landing here in NSGB smoother. They'll be right there for the new students when they arrive, show them around, sit with them at lunch, introduce them to other kids, and let them know about fun things they can do in NSGB, and even correspond through email and Facebook prior to arrival to get acquainted and help them prepare.
