Legal assistance is available to you and your family. Below, you’ll find information about claims and installation specific programs and services. If you have questions, reach out to the legal assistance program at your installation.
The Navy Legal Assistance program provides effective, efficient, and high quality legal assistance services to eligible persons. Legal Assistance provides customer services which includes services that call for the professional advice and expertise of a legal assistance attorney and give rise to an attorney-client relationship and client services which include preparation of general and special powers of attorney, notarization services, pre-deployment briefings and bill of sales.
Legal assistance is provided based upon available resources to Active duty, Reservists on active duty for 30 or more days, Retirees, deployed DOD Civilians (Overseas and/or over 30 days) and their lawful dependents from all branches of service. In order to receive assistance, clients must present their current military ID card in person at a legal assistance office. For notary services all customers must present two forms of identification: valid CAC and valid state-issued driver’s license or state issued identification card, or valid passport.
