Expanded Child Care (ECC) can help support child care needs and/or supplement child care on an irregular or occasional basis during non-traditional hours. Please contact the Family Child Care office for more information. Child care is available for children ages two weeks to twelve years.

Family Child Care (FCC) is a great alternative to the CDC for child care. FCC providers are independent business operators and work under their own contracts with the parents of the children they care for. There are FCC providers on Ramstein and Vogelweh as well as several affiliated providers in surrounding villages.

To become licensed, providers must pass background checks and attend rigorous orientation and training classes that include, CPR, first aid, child development, nutrition, detection, and prevention of child abuse and AF standards. Providers’ homes are inspected for quality care and for safety, fire, and public health to ensure their home complies with FCC guidelines.

For deployment, PCS, extended duty or any other type of occasional care call the FCC office directly for a list of providers that offer that type of care.

The Child Development Centers (CDCs) are committed to providing high-quality developmental experiences for your children.

The CDCs on Ramstein and Vogelweh offer full time and hourly services for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years old. Also, both CDCs offer a monthly ‘Give Parents a Break’ program, which allows parents to enjoy an evening out with their spouses.

There is currently a waiting list to enroll your child in the CDC.

The School Age Program provides before and after school care, camps during winter, spring and summer breaks, and daily care for school holidays. Locations are available on Ramstein, Vogelweh, and Kapaun. The School Age Program is COA accredited. We provide care for children who are currently enrolled in school, ages 5-12 years, and who are eligible family members of active duty, DoD, or civilian personnel. School Age Program is an NAA accredited program that provides activities to children that complement rather than duplicate the school day. Their main goals are:

• Personal development-supporting positive self-concept.
• Independence and life skills, encouraging responsibility.
• Social development – establishing friendships,
• Learning social skills, gaining social support,
• Developing a sense of community and teamwork.
• Physical development.
• Recreational skills, and appreciating the ability to rest and relax.
