It’s likely that employment will change when a move occurs, especially for military spouses. The information below will provide you with employment assistance information and resources available such as SECO, MyCAA and MSEP Portals.
Like many overseas locations, Ramstein Air Base employment opportunities can be extremely competitive for active-duty service members, military spouses, and civilians. It is not uncommon for applicants to wait six months or more to gain employment commensurate with their education and/or previous job experience. However, sometimes there may be expedited opportunities available if an agency utilizes the Direct-Hire Authority.
There are many employment resources available to guide you during this transition, including resume writing and resume review workshops at the Ramstein Military and Family Readiness Center (M&FRC), located in Bldg 2120. Visit the Ramstein Air Base website for more information about the Civilian Personnel Office (CPO) https://www.ramstein.af.mil/Resources/Civilian-Personnel-Flight/ .
If you have any questions regarding employment opportunities or resources, please reach out to your local M&FRC (or other service specific agency) or CPO.
If you are separating within 18 months or retiring within 24 months, call the Military and Family Readiness Center to schedule your mandatory Transition Assistance Program classes.
Members must attend an Initial counseling briefing prior to registering for the Pre-separation Counseling and Transition Goals, Plans and Success mandatory workshops. The workshop includes: Department of Defense/Air Force Core Curriculum, a Department of Labor Employment workshop, a Veterans Administration benefits and services briefing and additional briefings from the Transportation Management Office, TRICARE and the Separation History and Physical Examination nurse.
The last step in your transition process will be completing a Capstone event to finalize your TAP process and document mandatory Career Readiness Standards. If you have any questions about our TAP services, contact the M&FRC.
