Programs and services are available at most installations for children up to age 12. Care may be provided in Child Development Centers, School Age Care Programs, and Family Child Care Homes. Please review the information to find out what programs and services are available at this installation. Three centers on post provide programs for children from 6 weeks to 5 years of age. Programs include full-day and hourly programs and before-and after-Kindergarten and Pre-Kindergarten services.
Whether you and your family are stationed at Aberdeen or Edgewood, the Child and Youth Program offers military children and the children of contractors or DOD civilian sponsors, a comprehensive set of programs to assist you with your child care needs.
The Child Development Centers of APG are places of learning and nurturing for all of our children from 6 weeks to Kindergarten. They provide year-around (closed only for Federal holidays and approved Administrative holidays/training) full-day and hourly programs and before- and after-Kindergarten and Pre-Kindergarten services to meet the needs of soldiers and their families.
These facilities generally offer child care for children ages six weeks to 5 yrs. old. Care is typically available weekdays from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. CDCs vary in size; the average CDC cares for about 150 children. All programs must be certified by the DoD and accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
Eligibility
Eligibility as established by DOD Instruction 6060.2 remains as follows: active duty Military personnel; DOD Civilian personnel; reservists on active duty or during inactive duty personnel training; Military retirees; and DOD contractors.
Enrollment Criteria/Registration
Parents must provide a birth certificate, school, grade, social security number for all family members, and proof of employment. Registration is valid for one year and parents must register their children in person. Registration is required to determine eligibility, activity roster limitations and for emergency notifications.
Fees
Fees are based on total family income as directed by the Department of Defense Patron Fee Policy.

Programs Offered
Following is a description of programs available at the Aberdeen CDCs:
DoD School-Age Care (YS SAS/MS/Teen) programs are offered for children, Kindergarten to 18 years of age before and/or after school, and summer vacations. Accreditation of DoD YS programs is a requirement. Accreditation sets the professional standards for after school programs and helps families identify high-quality programs.
