Family Child Care is a profession for spouses who want to work at home, have the satisfaction of self-employment and the enjoyment of taking care of children. FCC providers are Air Force certified and licensed to care for children, 6 weeks through 12 years of age, in government quarters as well as off-base homes.
This program expands the availability of child care and is an integral part of the Beale AFB Child Development program. This program provides weekly and hourly care, childcare for volunteers, as well as supports the Child Care for PCS program. Providers also assure flexibility for those parents who need extended hours and adapt their programs to meet the needs of customers including 24 hours and weekend care, if necessary.
Providers are licensed to care for up to six children (including their own) and receive training in CPR, first aid, child care modules as well as child abuse. Homes are subject to monthly no notice inspections by the Air Force.
For additional information, an updated listing of FCC providers, or to obtain care in an FCC home visit website. The FCC Coordinator can be contacted at 530-634-4418 or (DSN) 312-368-4418.
The Beale AFB Child Development Center was recently recertified by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. The center, located in the main base area, has the capacity to provide care for 304 children 6 weeks to 5 years of age.

Hourly care patrons must provide shot records and AF Form 1181 prior to the requested day of care.
Costs
All Fees are in accordance with the Department of Defense guidelines and are based on Total Family Income. A sliding scale is used for fees. CDC fees cover quality child care, meals, and snacks which include (breakfast, lunch, afternoon, and evening snack).
Eligibility
Active Duty and DOD civilian employed parents are given a higher priority for enrollment for full-day and part-day care. Local commanders may give single parents and dual military higher priority than other families. A policy has been established and implemented to terminate, within a reasonable time, the enrollment of children in families where the spouse is no longer employed, actively seeking employment, or is no longer a full-time student, if there is a waiting list. Full-time students who are enrolled for a minimum of 12 semester hours during the school year and 6 semester hours during the summer or the equivalent quarter hours, parents who are self-employed, or who telecommute are considered employed.
