Contact information for key programs and services at this installation.
Health care services provided by the Defense Department are available to you and your family at your installation. We know that finding the right health care is important, especially in special circumstances such as emergency or during recent move. Here, you’ll find information and options about the services you have regarding healthcare.
The 9th Medical Group facility is a clinic providing primary care. The Beale Clinic provides Family Health, Pediatrics and Flight Medicine. Specialty services are not offered in the facility and subsequently authorized military family members must rely on TRICARE benefits to meet their special health care needs. The ancillary services provided include pharmacy, laboratory, radiology, and behavioral health optimization program (BHOP). Specialty care provided for active duty members include physical therapy, optometry, and mental health; all other specialty care is referred to David Grant Medical Center (75 miles from Beale) at Travis AFB or through the TRICARE network. Emergency room care and obstetrical care for both active duty and family members are available through the local community hospitals.
When you move, TRICARE moves with you. No matter where you go in the world, TRICARE is there before, during and when you get to your next duty station.
There are steps you need to take to make sure changes to your TRICARE coverage go smoothly. Understand that when you move, you may have to use a different TRICARE option. Visit TRICARE Moving to learn more.
Before you move, you should take care of any routine medical needs, including immunizations, and fill your prescriptions so you have enough while traveling. If you need care during your move, visit TRICARE Getting Care When Traveling to learn what to do.
Filling prescriptions while traveling
You should refill prescriptions before traveling. But if you run out of a prescription drug while traveling, visit TRICARE Filling Prescriptions When Traveling.
Getting dental care while traveling
Getting dental care while traveling depends on your location and whether you are a service member or family member.
With permanent change of station orders, ask for a copy of your medical and dental records from your military treatment facility and the dental treatment facility. Do this at least one month before your PCS date. The MTF should also transfer a copy of your record and any family records to your new duty station or you may be able to hand carry them to your new duty station.
If you want someone else to be able to get medical or dental information on you or your family while you are moving, you need to complete a DD Form 2870, "Authorization for Disclosure of Medical or Dental Information."
For more information on getting copies of medical records, visit TRICARE Request Copies of Medical Records.
The 9th Medical Group clinic provides care for active duty as well as dependents. Dependents can access the clinic for routine appointments, immunizations, lab tests, radiology and pharmacy services. If you are seen by an off-base primary care manager, they can write you a prescription that can be filled at the pharmacy. Specialty services are not offered in the medical facility; subsequently, authorized military family members must rely on TRICARE/Health Net benefits to meet their special health care needs.
Emergency room care and obstetrical care for both active duty and family members are available through the local community hospitals. In the case of an emergency, the nearest ER to Beale Air Force Base is Adventist Health and Rideout in Marysville. There are several other frequently utilized ERs and urgent care clinics in the catchment area of Beale which might be closer to the area you decide to live. The local community offers excellent medical and dental care working closely with military health care providers to ensure quality care.
Military members receive a TRICARE/Health Net benefits briefing and are enrolled in TRICARE when they attend the Newcomers Orientation within 30 days of arrival at Beale; instructions as to family member enrollment are also provided at that time. The Medical portion of the briefing is held in conjunction with the Newcomers Orientation, which you will be scheduled for during in-processing and is mandatory for military members. Spouses are highly encouraged to attend even if they cannot arrive at the 7:45 a.m. start time.
Dental Services: Active duty must be seen on base for dental appointments. If specialty services are needed, members will be referred off base or to Travis Air Force Base. Family members will select a civilian dentist who is a participant of the United Concordia Dental Program. Family members can enroll online in the TRICARE Dental Program. Family members can be seen at Beale AFB or Travis AFB only in emergency situations to alleviate any pain (bleeding, swelling and trauma). No definitive treatment can be provided.
