The Air Force Library Program offers resources for airmen, guardians, and their families in all locations and military stages.
Installation libraries play an important role in Air Force and Space Force professional life. They offer technical publications to support job requirements and opportunities for career development. You can earn college degrees and certifications, update promotion packages, prepare for transition or retirement, and more. Many resources are available online through the Air Force website.
Installation libraries also offer community programs such as story times and summer reading programs. There are author and book talks, as well as events to celebrate holidays and Air Force and Space Force heritage events. Most libraries also offer access to computers, internet, and basic office equipment like copiers and faxing services. Programs and services vary by location, so contact your local installation library for more information.
All Defense Department service members and their families can also use the online DOD MWR Libraries. The online libraries provide an array of resources for children and adults. Hub Zemke Library at Beale AFB
The Hub Zemke Library has undergone a huge transformation; the current design is modeled after Barnes and Noble! Active duty, retired, civilians, and family members can access 4400 educational and recreational videos, over 1000 adult and children's audio books, 275 Playaways, and 1000 music CDs. The Library has more than 100 periodical titles, including children's magazines, as well as current best-selling books, both fiction and non-fiction. Inter-library loan provides access to the collections of many other libraries; we are as big as our patrons need us to be.
The Library offers wireless, computers with e-mail, scanning, and free printing. A self-service fax and copy machine is available. Digital movie cameras and e-readers may be checked out. IT assistance is available. Children's programs are offered, including regular Story Time with Crafts and a Summer Reading Program with Read to Bodie the Therapy Dog and a Mother Goose drama.
Academic and mission web research tools are purchased for ACC base libraries and can be accessed from their computer labs. Some of these products are also accessible from the AF Portal Library page, or from home. Online databases, which allow access to thousands of magazines, books, and newspapers, include: Overdrive, Net Library, Safari ebooks, OneClick, Transparent and Mango Military Language online, Country Watch, EBSCO, Gale Group, Jane's Online, Lexis-Nexis, News Bank, SIRS. Online practice tests are also available on the Petersons.com website: CLEP, DSST, ASVAB, Military Flight Aptitude, AFOQT, GRE, GMAT, LSAT,, GED , PSAT, SAT, ACT, Nursing, and Teaching (PRAXIS). The Library Education Section offers CLEP and DANTES study guides, language CDs and video/booklet kits. CSAF Reading List books are provided.
