Programs and services are available at most installations for children up to age 12. Care may be provided in Child Development Centers, School Age Care Programs, and Family Child Care Homes. Child and Youth Services (CYS) at Dyess AFB operate under DoD Certification (Certificate of Operation).Also, the Child Development Center (CDC) is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). School Age Care (SAC) is accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA).The Child Development Center, School Age Care and Youth Programs offer a complete development program for children ages 6 weeks to 18 years of age. Individualized care is available for children with special needs, i.e. asthma.
The Dyess Family Child Care Program currently has a limited number of licensed home child care providers on-base. Each provider sets their own rates; therefore rates may vary for hourly care, weekly rates and for infant care.
Dyess AFB has one each CDC and Youth Center with School Age Programs. We offer Priority Care for dual military families and single parent families. There is a waiting list for child care slots, so it is advisable to register as early as possible. We have a very limited number (currently 5) licensed Family Child Care Providers on base. All Pre-School, Kindergarten, and Respite Care facilities in the area are off base.

Give Parents a Break, free child care is offered one time a month for families of deployed members. This child care is paid for by the Air Force Aid Society under their Child Care for PCS and Give Parents A Break Programs. The member or spouse should go to the Airman and Family Readiness Center to obtain the Child Care for PCS or Give Parents A Break voucher and to the CDC or Youth Center to register their child/children. Current and up-to-date immunization records must accompany children on their initial visit to any child care program. Each child must have an AF Form 1181 Registration Form and a USDA Form 1531 on file to be enrolled in the Dyess CDC.
Eligibility
All families that work for Dyess AFB as contractors or DoD civilians, along with our active duty members are eligible for child care. Child care spaces are based on priority; your priority will be assigned through military child care.com
Costs
Child Care fees are based on total family income. The military member's LES and the spouse's pay voucher are necessary to assess the total family income used to determine the fee category of the family. Fees may be changed once yearly. The annualized weekly fee schedule is based on the allowed 50 hours of care weekly.
The Dyess Youth Center provides before and after school care and a summer day camp providing care for school age children. Prior to your arrival, you may request care at www.militarychildcare.com.
