Dyess AFB has one Youth Center with a wealth of creative, supervised youth activities available for youth between the ages of 5 - 18 (5-year-olds must be enrolled in kindergarten). The activities are designed to be fun, promote physical fitness, and develop lifelong recreation and leadership skills. The Youth Programs have a partnership with 4-H and Boys & Girls Clubs of America to offer specialized programming, a scholarship program for teens, STEM opportunities, and educational and recreational trips. Youth Programs offer school-age care, open recreation, and youth sports. A variety of special events are also offered to include Teen OWN nights on Fridays, Kids' Night, America’s Kids’ Fun Run, block parties, lock-ins, and base-wide events. For more information on programing please contact the Youth Center at 325-696-4797.
Youth Sponsorship Program
Youth Sponsorship is providing peer-to-peer mentorship by matching youth based on similar age and interest to share information about our programs and events. The Youth Program works closely with the in-house School Liaison to guide any youth who may need assistance in overcoming the stress associated with relocating, adjusting to a new environment, and a diverse group at a new duty station.
Youth Sports
Youth Sports programs are available for youth ages 6-12 years. The sports may include, but are not limited to the following: archery, baseball, basketball, soccer, tennis, volleyball, fencing, bowling, cheerleading, and more in a variety of settings to include leagues, clinics, and summer camps. A Start Smart program is also offered, and it introduces youth ages 3-5 years the basic motor skills associated with a variety of sports. This is a parent lead class that focuses on development in a non-competitive environment.
