Deployment can be a challenging phase of the military lifecycle, but it’s important to know that you don’t have to go through it alone. The military provides a variety of resources and support programs — ranging from educational briefings to morale calls — for your loved ones, children and service members to ease the stress of deployment. Military members may be assigned to a specific installation but support may come from local communities, Yellow Ribbon events or the installation itself.
Deployment is a fact of life for military members and their families. The Airman and Family Readiness Center (A&FRC) offers a variety of programs and services to help cope with the challenges and hardships of a deployment. Before each deployment, you will have the opportunity to attend a Pre-Deployment Briefing where you will be given specific information about what to expect, and what programs that are being offered. Once the military member has deployed, the unit Key Spouse will keep in contact with the spouse on a weekly basis via e-mail to inform them of upcoming events around the base and local community. If your spouse has deployed and you have note received communication from the unit Key Spouse, please contact the A&FRC and we will be happy to assist you in making that connection with your unit Key Spouse.
The following programs are available to the families of deployed members.
The Airman & Family Readiness Center (A&FRC) hosts both the Pre-Deployment and Post-Deployment briefings once per week. To register for a pre or post deployment briefing, please call the A&FRC at (907) 377-2178.
Car Care Because We Care
This program is funded through Air Force Aid and provides free oil change to spouses of AF members who are deployed 30 days or more or who are serving on a one-year remote tour. Simply make an appointment with the Eielson Auto Skills Center, and then stop by the Airman & Family Readiness Center to pick up the oil change voucher prior to the service date. The goal of this program is to ensure the safety of the family vehicle during separation.
