When you arrive at your new installation, you’ll need to follow installation-specific procedures. Each installation and service handles in-processing differently. Here, you can find installation-specific guidelines and a list of documents to bring with you when checking- in. Reach out to the contacts provided if you have specific questions.
If you are arriving by commercial airline and your sponsor is not available to meet you, call your squadron's support staff for assistance. The 24-hour access point for Ellsworth is the Pine Tree Inn at (605) 385-2844 or DSN 312-675-2844. Single and unaccompanied airmen (E-1-E-4) who arrive after-hours will call the dormitory leader on stand-by at 605-391-3359. The ADL on stand-by will procure and process a key. The following morning, newly arrived airmen will report to their Unit CSS for the squadron in-processing checklist and will complete dormitory in-processing with their sponsor.
Inprocessing begins at your unit. Immediately upon arrival at Ellsworth, report to your sponsor or unit support staff. Your unit will provide you details for your Right Start orientation (please bring your spouse to Right Start -- there is a lot information specifically for them). You may also be scheduled for the First Term Airmen's Center (FTAC) if this is your first duty station. If you have government-issued passports for your dependents, they (the passports, not your dependents!) must be turned into the Military Personnel Flight (MPF) after you receive an e-mail from them. During inprocessing, you will also be scheduled for a finance appointment and any applicable ancillary training, as well as receive assistance in filing your travel voucher. Spouses are welcome and encouraged to attend. Appointments are monitored by your unit.
Other items that might be helpful is to notify the Transportation Management Office (TMO) of your arrival, meet your new supervisor, see your work center and meet some of your co-workers.
If you get married before you PCS, you must inform your commander and follow the procedures exactly as you are given them. The military will not pay for travel and housing of your spouse if you do not follow proper procedures.
Spouses are invited to attend Heart Link, a spouse orientation offered regularly by the Airman and Family Readiness Center. Contact the Airman and Family Readiness Center at 605-385-4663 or DSN: 312-675-4663 for more information or a schedule of the upcoming workshops.
