The Personal Financial Readiness program (click on the link to see our webpage) provides financial education, information and counseling that equips service members to address their current personal financial situations, maximize their financial resources and effectively handle any financial challenges that may arise throughout their military lifecycle. Financial Readiness = Mission Readiness.
With service members facing unique and complex requirements of deployments, family separations, frequent moves, spouse employment, special needs and other stressful situations, the status of service members having their financial affairs in order takes on a heightened level of importance. Providing relatable and effective financial readiness education is essential to ensure customers are equipped with strategies and techniques that lead to their financial success and mission readiness. Financial Readiness is communicated through information and referral, education and counseling, and training across the military lifecycle with the goal of developing financially ready and literate Airmen and Guardians.
The M&FRC provides FREE Financial Education Courses and Personal Financial Counseling tailored for each Service Member’s and their family’s needs. These include creating a Spending Plan or budget, understanding/improving your credit score, investing, identity theft, buying/selling a home, car buying, and any other issues regarding your financial state. Services and classes are available to Spouses as well.
Contact the M&FRC today to schedule an appointment with an Accredited Financial Counselor or to sign up for a class or workshop.

Pre-departure Costs
Some pre-departure costs could include, but not limited to, repair/replacement or cleaning of current residence, temporary lodging, childcare, pet expenses, and vehicle repair/maintenance.
In-transit Costs
Gas, lodging, meals, tolls, and other travel related expenses.
Arrival and Settling-in Costs
These are inevitable out of pocket costs with moving - temporary lodging*, food, rent, security deposits, utility hook-up fees, child care, vehicle insurance and registration (possible increase), new home preparation (re-stocking food, cleaning supplies, curtains/drapes, rugs/carpet, furniture, paint, appliances, renter's insurance.)
*In particular, the month of August marks the peak of high-season tourism. A dramatic increase in tourist events occurs in August. It can be extremely difficult to locate temporary quarters within close proximity of the base, and costs can be much higher than anticipated.
Pet Expenses
If you are traveling with a pet(s), make sure you allow for the costs of kenneling/boarding along the way. There are only a few pet-friendly units available for reservation at Ellsworth. You may need an alternate arrangement for your pets if those units are not available.
