Programs and services are available at most installations for children up to age 12. Care may be provided in Child Development Centers, School Age Care Programs, and Family Child Care Homes. Please review the information to find out what programs and services are available at this installation. FCC is a child care option offered to eligible families through CYS Services for ages 4 weeks and beyond. FFC care is provided by military family members working as independent contractors in individual housing units located on Ft Meade. FCC Providers receive the same training and support as CYS Services facility-based staff. FCC Providers must be 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED. A monthly briefing is held for anyone interested in becoming a certified provider. Orientation training is held 6 times during the year. Four centers on post provide child care services for children six weeks through preschool. All the CDC’s at Fort Meade have earned accreditation from the National Association of Education of Young Children. Programs include Full Day Care, and Hourly care at CDC IV and CD Home. The Fort Meade Child Development Centers provide developmentally age appropriate activities for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years of age. All CDC’s at Fort Meade have earned accreditation from the National Association of Education of Young. The CDC strives to expose children to the “Six Pillars of Character” (trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, care and citizenship) as well as promote the physical, social, emotional, cognitive and creative side of each child.

Hours of Operation
The CDCs are open from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Full-Day Care and hourly care is available for children 6 weeks through 5 years of age. Part-Day Pre-School is offered for children 3-4 years of age.
Child and Youth Services serves the family members (ages 6 weeks to 18 years) of Active duty military personnel; DoD civilian employees paid from either appropriated funds (APF) or non-appropriated funds (NAF); Reserve Component military personnel on active duty or inactive duty training status; active duty combat-related wounded warriors; surviving spouses of military members who died from a combat-related incident; those acting in loco parentis for the dependent child of an otherwise eligible patron; eligible employees of DoD contractors; and others authorized on a space available basis. In the case of unmarried, legally separated parents with joint custody, or divorced parents with joint custody, children are eligible for child care only when they reside with the military service member or eligible civilian sponsor at least 25 percent of the time in a month that a child receives child care through an Army program. Incoming personnel should place themselves on the waiting list by creating an account on militarychildcare.com as well as making a request for care. No fees are required for registration. If you are enrolling your child into a care program there is a 10% deposit of your monthly fee due at enrollment.
Parents or guardians are requested to bring proper identification, child’s birth certificate, social security number and an up to date shot record at the time of registration.
SCHOOL AGE CARE
There are two SAC facilities on Fort Meade
The SAC program supports working families who are in need of school-age care for the elementary school-age children, grades K-5th. SAC offers before and after school care and full day care on school closure days. A full day summer program is held in 9-11 one week sessions (sessions are based on Anne Arundel County Public Schools summer break). The SAC program is nationally accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA) and is affiliated with the Boys and Girls Club of America and 4-H.
