If you’ve ever considered taking your education a step further, you should look to your installation for more information and assistance. They can help you decide if receiving an advanced degree is right for you, tell you which local colleges and classes are offered and find out if you’re eligible for tuition assistance. The Voluntary Education Center, or Installation Education Center, is available to help you put together a plan to advance your education.
Military spouses can also choose to engage with an education and career coach through the DoD’s Spouse Education and Career Opportunities program, or SECO. These coaches can assist them in exploring multiple tools, resources and information to reach their educational goals. The Fort Irwin Education Center is located in Building 1020, on the corner of Third Street and Avenue F. Our counseling hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on Thursday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. All members of the Fort Irwin community are encouraged to use the services available at the Education Center.
Services include Army Personnel Testing, the Basic Skills Education Program, GI Bill informational briefings, college and career counseling, Tuition Assistance, and Financial Aid information. A multi-use learning facility (MLF) computer lab is available with internet access and print capability. Classrooms are utilized for on-site college classes and can be reserved for military and civilian training.

Fort Irwin has 4 on post colleges that offer courses in a classroom setting or in an online setting Barstow Community College, a regionally accredited California Community College, offers a wide variety of Associate and Certificate programs. Barstow Community College offers both in classroom classes as well as online classes.
Park University, also regionally accredited, offers Bachelors of Science degrees in Management, Business, Criminal Justice and many more Bachelors of Science degrees Bachelor of Arts Degrees in Psychology and Sociology. Offers both in classroom classes and online classes Kaplan University is a regionally accredited University and offers certificate through Masters Programs. Kaplan University also offer both in classroom and online classes.
University of Maryland University College is a regionally accredited University and offers certificate through Masters Programs as well as two (2) Doctorial Programs and will only offer online classes.

TROOPS TO COLLEGE
The Troops to College Program gives priority placement to veterans eligible to be accepted into a California State University without having to compete with other eligible non-veteran perspective students.
