If you need emergency assistance, you can expect to get help from your installation, your branch of service resources. There are programs to support you in a variety of situations, including victim assistance, emergencies en route and service-specific relief societies. Below, you’ll find types of assistance, contact information, and detailed procedures and guidance to help you through any tough circumstances that you or your family may face.
Army Emergency Relief provides assistance for unexpected financial emergencies in the form of interest-free loans and grants for soldiers, retirees and family members. Assistance may be provided for such things as essential privately owned vehicle repair, payment of rent, security deposit, food and utilities, and emergency travel. Army Emergency Relief is available at Fort McCoy Army Community Service, 2111 South 8th Avenue. Office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding federal holidays. The phone number is 502-898-3540/3505. After hours, weekends and holiday emergency financial services are available by calling the Armed Forces Emergency Services Center at 877-272-7337. Military spouses must have a Special Power of Attorney specific to Army Emergency Relief in order to request assistance when applying without the Soldier.
Military Family Financial Aid
The Military Family Financial Aid Fund is a state taxpayer-funded program for Wisconsin service members and their eligible dependents experiencing an unexpected financial hardship. Please note that there is a residency requirement associated with this fund, which requires the service member to physically reside in the state of Wisconsin. The Wisconsin National Guard State Family Programs staff will guide applicants through the application process and assist them with submitting the application to the approving committee. Federal Employee Education and Assistance Fund
Emergency loans and grants are available to help employees who fall behind on basic living expenses (mortgage/rent or utilities) due to unforeseen emergencies such as severe illness, injury or dental emergency of employee; severe illness or injury of immediate family member; death of employee's immediate family member; major loss/damage to primary residence due to a disaster such as flood, fire, hurricane; victim of domestic violence with immediate need for safe housing. Victim Advocate/Domestic Violence
The 24/7 unit victim advocate hotline for soldier victims of sexual assault is 502-898-3000. The domestic violence 24/7 hotline is 855-827-0400. The suicide prevention hotline is 988. For non-emergency assistance, call the Fort McCoy Police Desk at 502-898-2266.
