About 80% of military personnel live off-post in the Ft. Sill area. There are numerous apartment complexes, mobile homes, and homes for rent or sale in the Lawton and surrounding area. Security deposits vary and often equal one month's rent. All renters should carry renters insurance against fire, theft and other damages. The property owner's insurance will cover the property but not the renters personal property.

Housing Services Office (HSO) 

The HSO is to assist you and your family in all of your relocation needs at your new duty station.   Please remember you are required to physically report to the HSO serving your new duty station before making housing arrangements for renting, leasing or purchasing any off-post housing. The HSO will provide you a list of rentals with corresponding locator maps and give you information regarding the communities in which the rentals are located. Contact HSO for any problems you may encounter such as discrimination complaints, tenant/landlord disputes, or any questions about off-post housing.

Single Soldiers in the grade of E1 through E5 are required to occupy barracks space.

If you are an E-5 and below and considered a single Service Member you may have certain circumstances that require you to live off-post. You have to have an approved exception to the policy which will allow you to draw BAH at the single rate accompanied by a Certificate of Non-Availability (CNA). If you have any questions regarding Unaccompanied Personnel Housing (UPH/Barracks) their contact information is 580-442-3626. If you have issues with furnishings/appliances in the Barracks you would need to contact Furnish Management Office (FMO) at 580-442-6966/4949/1702.  UPH and FMO are located in Building 4700 (Welcome Center), Mow-Way Road, 3rd Floor.
