It’s likely that employment will change when a move occurs, especially for military spouses. The information below will provide you with employment assistance information and resources available such as SECO, MyCAA and MSEP Portals.
The Employment Readiness Program offers information and resources to support Military Spouses, Active Duty Military, Retired Military, Active Guard and Active Reserve, DOD Civilians and Family Members. Resources include information on fairs and hiring events, professional development, employment and education information, volunteer opportunities, and computer access for job searches and networking. Fort Wainwright is adjacent to the Fairbanks North Star Borough Community. Top employers in the area consist of Federal and State government entities, the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District and the University of Alaska Fairbanks, and Foundation Health Partners.

Before this PCS move, gather and hand carry the following items to assist in your job search: School transcripts; professional certificates; Awards and/or honors; volunteer portfolio; Current work history; updated resume and/or federal application; Information for at least three references and Letters of recommendation/appreciation. Spouses may also consider hand carrying a copy of their marriage certificate and proof of citizenship to streamline the application process.
Federal employee bring: SF50 Performance Appraisal. Civilian employees need to contact Civilian Personnel Office at 907 353-7201 for information about priority placement and extended leave without pay.

Transition Assistance
The Transition Assistance Program (TAP) provides transition assistance to military personnel exiting the service. TAP is located on the second floor in the Welcome Center, Building 3401 Santiago Ave.

Tuition Assistance
Your local AER office located within ACS also offers scholarships up to a Bachelor's degree.
Several colleges offer classes on the installation. The University of Alaska, Fairbanks is in town and offers financial aid.
