Policies and rules for shipping pets vary at each installation. It’s important to understand the regulations, prohibitions and laws at your new installation before moving with a pet. Below, you’ll find installation-specific details for registering, boarding and transporting your pet.
All pets kept on post must be registered with the post veterinarian's office. Also, those residing off post must have up to date shots and licenses. Rabies Vaccinations are kept on file and a tag is issued with a corresponding number.
Make sure your pet is in overall good health before traveling and that shots and vaccinations are current. If you are transporting your animal by air, check with the airline you plan to use to get specific information on travel requirements and restrictions for animals. Animal transportation may be restricted in the summer due to high temperatures or inclement weather. Occasionally, small pets can be shipped on military flights but availability and regulations are always changing as well as fees.
Fort Stewart Boarding services and Doggie Daycare is available on the Fort Stewart installation. Cost for boarding is $18/night for dogs $12.50/night for cats. Cost variation depends on animal's size, species, and if it is neutered or spayed. Reservations: All pets must have a complete and current application on file. All animals must be over 4 months old. All dogs over 7 months old must be spayed or neutered to participate in community play. It is important to make boarding arrangements prior to arrival in the area to make sure space is available.
