When planning for a move with the military, you might consider moving into government housing. Government housing is owned and maintained by the Department of Defense and is typically on the installation. Depending on where you live, where your command is located, and the time of day you report to work, you are likely to encounter a lengthy commute in the Washington area. It is not unusual to spend 45-90 minutes one-way if your commute includes rush hour on any of the major arteries in the area.

Hours of Operation are Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. It is advisable that you see your Housing Referral Representative once you arrive in the National Capital Region.
