If you need emergency assistance, you can expect to get help from your installation, your branch of service resources. There are programs to support you in a variety of situations, including victim assistance, emergencies en route and service-specific relief societies. Below, you’ll find types of assistance, contact information, and detailed procedures and guidance to help you through any tough circumstances that you or your family may face.
Sexual Assault Response Coordinators and Victim Advocates are available at all Air Force installations to assist victims and survivors of sexual assault. DOD Safe Helpline is 877-995-5247.
Malmstrom Air Force Base's SAPR serves as the single point of contact for integrating and coordinating care for sexual assault victims on base 24/7 365 days a year. The 24/7 hotline number for Victim Advocate Services is 406-781-6005.
For immediate emergency assistance please call the Military Police at 406-731-3895 and 911 if the call is coming from off base.
The Air Force Aid Society can assist with emergency services for all military members. Malmstrom’s Military & Family Readiness Center no longer processes AFAS applications. Eligible members requesting AFAS emergency assistance (both loans and grants) will be required to apply electronically via https://portal.afas.org . Some items you will need to provide are copies of your latest end of the month leave and earnings statement and any documentation you might have to justify your financial need.
If military members need emergency leave work through your unit leadership to ensure emergency leave is authorized then unit or member can contact the Air Force Aid Society to procure emergency travel. The Malmstrom M&FRC staff are available to answer potential questions members may have regarding the new application process and navigating the AFAS application portal.
For emergency travel applicants should contact the American Red Cross at the national level at 800-448-3543.
The American Red Cross is always available for emergency assistance anywhere you may be. Contact the nearest chapter or call toll free to 877-272-7337. The American Red Cross will help with notification in emergency situations or with civilian needs.
First of all make sure you have all your important papers, orders and medical records etc with you and not packed with your household goods. Telephone numbers for your Commander, Commander Support Staff, & your sponsor can be invaluable in case of emergency while in transit. Look for the nearest installation while on route to Malmstrom for help and emergency relief procedures for financial aid. All branches of the service financial aid areas work together.
