Family Health
We provide medical care for active duty, dependents, and retiree personnel. We treat a narrow range of acute illnesses by walk-in such as suture removal, sore throat, medication injections, and blood pressure checks when ordered by a provider. We also treat other acute concerns and chronic illnesses by appointments. Our focus is also on preventive health screening for the range of our population.
Pharmacy
We provide pharmaceutical care for eligible TRICARE beneficiaries. If we do not currently stock the medication you need, we can acquire most within 48 to 72 hours, provided that they are on formulary. If you have questions about the availability of your medication, please call or stop by.
Dental
We are currently treating active-duty personnel. We provide treatment in all dental specialties' areas including sedative procedures. Emergency care is available after hours.
Services Provided
When you move, TRICARE moves with you. No matter where you go in the world, TRICARE is there before, during and when you get to your next duty station.
There are steps you need to take to make sure changes to your TRICARE coverage go smoothly. Understand that when you move, you may have to use a different TRICARE option. Visit TRICARE Moving to learn more.
Before you move, you should take care of any routine medical needs, including immunizations, and fill your prescriptions so you have enough while traveling. If you need care during your move, visit TRICARE Getting Care When Traveling to learn what to do.
Filling prescriptions while traveling
You should refill prescriptions before traveling. But if you run out of a prescription drug while traveling, visit TRICARE Filling Prescriptions When Traveling.
Getting dental care while traveling
Getting dental care while traveling depends on your location and whether you are a service member or family member.
With permanent change of station orders, ask for a copy of your medical and dental records from your military treatment facility and the dental treatment facility. Do this at least one month before your PCS date. The MTF should also transfer a copy of your record and any family records to your new duty station or you may be able to hand carry them to your new duty station.
If you want someone else to be able to get medical or dental information on you or your family while you are moving, you need to complete a DD Form 2870, "Authorization for Disclosure of Medical or Dental Information."
For more information on getting copies of medical records, visit TRICARE Request Copies of Medical Records.
You will be covered by TRICARE medical only in the region you are presently in, while in route to Malmstrom AFB. At Newcomers/in-processing the Med Group representative will gather information to gain you here at Malmstrom as well as provide you with instructions on how to transfer/enroll in the Tricare West region.

The clinic offers Family Health, PRAP Clinic, Flight/Missile Medicine, Optometry, and Physical Therapy. It also has limited radiology and laboratory services. If specialty care is deemed necessary by a patient's Primary Care Manager (PCM), you will be generally referred to the Great Falls medical community. However, some specialties are not available through the local community. If you or a family member require one of those specialties, you may be referred to other cities in Montana or other states. There is a TRICARE benefit that may be able to assist with travel costs. Information on the travel benefit is available through Patient Administration.
If you are experiencing a true medical emergency, call 911 or go directly to the Emergency Room, East Campus of Benefis Healthcare or the Great Falls Emergency room. For urgent care needs after normal duty hours, Active duty must call the Nurse Help Advice Line at 800-874-2273 opt 1. If he/she recommends medical care, you will be referred to an urgent care center in Great Falls. Military dependents do not need a referral for urgent care.
