When you arrive at your new installation, you’ll need to follow installation-specific procedures. Each installation and service handles in-processing differently. Here, you can find installation-specific guidelines and a list of documents to bring with you when checking- in. Reach out to the contacts provided if you have specific questions.
Checking In
One of the first things military personnel must attend to upon their arrival at the Air Station is checking in. New arrivals must take their original orders to their command to be endorsed before visiting the Installation Personnel Administration Center (IPAC), Building 807.If checking in after working hours or on the weekend, check in with the Air Station Officer of the Day (OOD) in Building 601, MCAS Headquarters, duty desk.
Personnel checking in must also attend the Welcome Aboard Brief which is facilitated by the Information & Referral Program. The Welcome Aboard Brief provides installation information, maps, program directories and more. Please note that personnel in the grades of E-1 through E-6, WO-1 and O-1 through O-2 must attend the mandatory Welcome Aboard Brief (Settling In Services) in accordance with MCO 1754.10A. Spouses are welcome and encouraged to attend. MCCS South Carolina provides use of the Lending Locker where personnel can borrow household items to include air mattresses, tables and chairs, kitchen items, and more. The Information & Referral Office is located in Building 807 (IPAC), Room 100 and can be contacted at 843-228-7351.
Personnel
MAG-31 Personnel: All military personnel with orders to MAG-31 should check in with the MAG-31 S-1, located in Building 1252. Squadrons that fall under MAG-31 include MALS-31, VMFA-115, VMFA-122, VMFA(AW)-224, VMFA-251, VMFA-312, VFMA(AW)-533, VMFAT-501 and MWSS-273.For more information, call (843)228-7312, DSN 335-7312.
H&HS Personnel: All military personnel with orders to Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron should check in with the Station S-1, located in building 601, Room 125B. For more information, call (843)228-7121, DSN 335-7121.
MWSD-273 Personnel: All military personnel with orders to Marine Wing Support Detachment 31 should check in with the Station S-1, located in building 601, Room 125B. For more information, call (843)228-7121, DSN 335-7121.
CLC-23 Personnel: All military personnel with orders to Combat Logistics Company 23 should check in with their respective units in Building 614. For more information, call (843)228-8511.
MACS-2, Det. A Personnel: All military personnel with orders to Marine Air Control Squadron 2, Det. A, should check in with their respective units in Building 662. For more information, call (843)228-6798, DSN 335-6798.
Before you begin your travel keep these things in mind:
The Military Postal Facility hours of operation are Monday through Friday, from 7:30 am until 3:30 pm. The phone number for the Postal facility is 843-228-6053 or 843-228-7220. Incoming personnel should contact their units for correct mailing addresses prior to arrival.
If you get married before you PCS, you must inform your Commanding Officer and follow the procedures exactly as you are given them. The military will not pay for travel and housing of your spouse if you do not follow proper procedures.
