It’s likely that employment will change when a move occurs, especially for military spouses. The information below will provide you with employment assistance information and resources available such as SECO, MyCAA and MSEP Portals.
The Career Resource Management Center (CRMC), also known as the Transition Readiness, (Bldg. 807) provides career/employment assistance, vocational guidance and transition information to separating Marines and their family members. The tools and information provided enable all separating Marines and their family members to make a successful transition from military to civilian life.
The Family Member Employment Assistance Program (FMEAP) is located aboard MCRD Parris Island in Bldg. 923, Room 27. The program provides military family members with the tools they need to successfully search for employment. Each office has a well-stocked library with employment resources, keeps a current list of local employment opportunities and offers classes specifically designed for military family members.

The largest employers in the Low Country are Beaufort County School District, Department of Defense, Beaufort County Government, Beaufort Memorial Hospital. The most current industries experiencing continued growth include healthcare, food and hospitality and construction.

Workshops and seminars include Transition Readiness Seminars (TRS), Entrepreneurship (Boots to Business), Managing Your (MY) Education, Employment Workshop, Career and Credential Exploration. To register for classes, please contact your Unit Transition Coordinator (UTC). If you fall under the Navy, please contact your Command Career Counselor.
Personal Readiness Seminar (PRS) PRS is an overview of the Marine for Life cycle model including Personal and Professional Development (P&PD) programs and services and introductory personal finance topics. Marines should attend PRS at their first permanent duty station (FPDS).

Military Tuition Assistance (TA)
EligibilityTA can be used by service members who meet the following conditions:
If a service member meets these requirements, they may start the TA application process. If they do not meet these qualifications, please contact our office.
ApplyingFirst time applicants should do the following:
TA can only be approved for courses within 60 days and needs to be applied for each term. To apply for TA for another term, applicants should repeats steps 8-10. Only 2 classes are funded at a time. Only 1 class is funded for first time users, applicants with a GPA below 2.5 or those who failed their last class. For detailed instructions on how to log on and use WebTA CLICK HERE
PaymentService Members may receive up to $4,500 per fiscal year (1 Oct-30 Sep). There is a cap of $250 per semester hour, $166.67 per quarter hour, and $16.67 per clock hour. Failed classes (D, F, W or I at bachelor’s level) will require repayment. For full details, see the current MCO and most recent MARADMIN on TA or contact your Education Office.Waivers for repayment are available for students who involuntarily withdraw due to circumstances beyond their control. Please contact the Education Office for consideration.

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has education programs to advance the education and skills of active duty Service Members such as the Post-9/11 GI Bill and the Montgomery GI Bill. While the Education Service Specialists are not VA counselors, they can assist in using VA tools and applying for the GI Bill or other programs.
