A wide range of programs are available for youth and teens, including youth sports and recreation programs, educational programs and programs that support leadership and career development. Please review the information to learn what programs and services are available at this installation.
The SAC program is offered for children 5 to 12 years of age, or Kindergarten - 6th grade at the Parris Island and Laurel Bay Youth Centers. SAC provides a safe, supervised and age-appropriate environment with individual and group activities that develop the social, emotional, cognitive and physical potential of children. The facility boasts a gymnasium, playground, arts and craft room, and game room. SAC also offers full-day hourly care on school holidays and teacher in-service days as well as day camps during extended school breaks.

Eligibility /Availability
We offer a comprehensive composite of diverse activities contributing to the well-being of school-age care children (ages 5-12 years old).
All dependents of military personnel; DoD civilian personnel, active-duty Coast Guard, reservists on active duty or during inactive duty for training and DoD contract personnel who are performing mission related duty on the installations are eligible to use the programs. Retirees may be eligible when a waiting list does not exist, and space is available.
Youth Centers on Installation
The Youth Centers provide a safe haven for school age children offering recreation activities and before and after school programs. The facility boasts a full-sized gymnasium, playground, arts and craft room, and game room. The center is affiliated with the Boys and Girls Club of America, and Anchored4Life.
Hours of Operation -- The centers are open Monday through Friday, 5:30am to 6:30pm
Youth Sports Programs
Youth Sports is a skill-based program open to children ages 4-11. Rather than focusing on competition, which is an inherit part of sports, children are provided the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of a sport, in addition to good sportsmanship and the benefits of teamwork. Try outs are not required, as all skill levels are welcome to participate. All players are also offered equal playing time during games. Opportunities can include team sports, skill development clinics and sports specific camps. All coaches are volunteers and certified through the National Alliance for Youth Sports and have an extensive background check before working with the children. Coaches are always needed in our program and training is provided to those interested. Please contact your local Youth Sports office to learn more.
Youth Sports offers year-round programs for children ages 4-10 to build confidence, team work skills and improve athletic ability. Programs offered include:

Youth Sponsorship Program
Marine and Family Services' Relocation Assistance Program and the Child, Youth and Teen Program work together to provide a special program for school age youth to assist them in becoming acquainted with the opportunities awaiting them in Beaufort, South Carolina.
The Youth Sponsorship Program helps youth moving to the Beaufort area by matching them up with another age-appropriate youth presently living in the Beaufort area. The youth correspond with one another in order to find out exactly what to expect upon their arrival at Beaufort, South Carolina.
To obtain a Youth Sponsor, Youth Center at Laurel Bay prior to transfer at 843-228-7351.
Youth Employment
MCCS offers many opportunities for the employment of Youths. Youths under the age of fourteen are not permitted to work for MCCS. The requirements vary according to the age of the youth. Every teenager 14 or 15 years of age must have an employment certificate (work permit) to work. Work permits may be obtained at most public high schools and many private schools.
