Health care services provided by the Defense Department are available to you and your family at your installation. We know that finding the right health care is important, especially in special circumstances such as emergency or during recent move. Here, you’ll find information and options about the services you have regarding healthcare.

When you move, TRICARE moves with you. No matter where you go in the world, TRICARE is there before, during and when you get to your next duty station.
There are steps you need to take to make sure changes to your TRICARE coverage go smoothly. Understand that when you move, you may have to use a different TRICARE option. Visit TRICARE Moving to learn more.
Before you move, you should take care of any routine medical needs, including immunizations, and fill your prescriptions so you have enough while traveling. If you need care during your move, visit TRICARE Getting Care When Traveling to learn what to do.
Filling prescriptions while traveling
You should refill prescriptions before traveling. But if you run out of a prescription drug while traveling, visit TRICARE Filling Prescriptions When Traveling.
Getting dental care while traveling
Getting dental care while traveling depends on your location and whether you are a service member or family member.
With permanent change of station orders, ask for a copy of your medical and dental records from your military treatment facility and the dental treatment facility. Do this at least one month before your PCS date. The MTF should also transfer a copy of your record and any family records to your new duty station or you may be able to hand carry them to your new duty station.
If you want someone else to be able to get medical or dental information on you or your family while you are moving, you need to complete a DD Form 2870, "Authorization for Disclosure of Medical or Dental Information."

Medical Care
Only active-duty military are eligible to be seen on base. Family members are not seen on base. Family members must utilize TRICARE for all medical needs. In the event of a bona fide medical emergency, proceed to the nearest emergency room which is physically connected to a hospital building. Your military identification card will serve as your proof of medical insurance coverage.
Neighborhood emergency facilities may include costs not covered by TRICARE. Your military ID card will serve as your proof of medical insurance coverage at hospital ERs.
Ensure the ER is physically attached to a hospital. TRICARE DOES NOT REIMBURSE URGENT CARE FACILTY TREATMENT.
Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth has medical and dental care support for active-duty personnel only. Family members must enroll in the local TRICARE Medical Treatment Program.
The 16 hospitals and 60 clinics in the city limits include Harris Methodist and Fort Worth Hospital which was awarded the Consumer Choice Award by the National Research Corporation and has held the title for 13 years. Other large hospitals include the John Peter Smith Health Network, which has moved into its new patient care pavilion, a 233,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art emergency and acute-care facility with 12 operating rooms. The Baylor All Saints Medical Center offers a fast-growing maternity center and organ transplant services, and the Cook Children's Health Care System is known for pediatric expertise.
Please double check to ensure that the cook children's health care program is enrolled with the military tricare program.
The local chapter is a separate entity from other TRICARE programs. If you've enrolled at your current base, you must re-enroll with the Fort Worth/Dallas TRICARE. Please call 800-444-5445 to complete re-enrollment once you arrive.
