If you need emergency assistance, you can expect to get help from your installation, your branch of service resources. There are programs to support you in a variety of situations, including victim assistance, emergencies en route and service-specific relief societies. Below, you’ll find types of assistance, contact information, and detailed procedures and guidance to help you through any tough circumstances that you or your family may face.
The American Red Cross is always available for emergency aid anywhere you may be. Contact the nearest chapter (phone numbers are usually listed in the white pages of the local phone directory), they can sometimes help with emergency financial assistance and contacting individuals that need to know where you are and what's happening.
The American Red Cross can also help in times of emergency. Quick communications with home about family emergencies is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including verification of death, serious illness, birth announcements to parents deployed overseas, and health and welfare reports resulting from a lack of communication over a long period of time.
The American Red Cross also offers financial assistance for military personnel and their immediate families in the form of interest free loans or grants when a loan would place a greater hardship on the family. Examples of need for financial assistance are: emergency leave expenses for the service person or a family member; family necessities which may result when an allotment check is not received or delayed; personal needs of an essential and emergency nature; and convalescent leave expenses.

Categories of financial assistance include: Basic living expenses (food, shelter, utilities), medical not covered by TRICARE, dental not covered by TRICARE Dental, funeral expenses, emergency transportation, essential car repairs, pay and allotment problems, disasters and assistance for widows, mothers and children.

Since in 1899, The Salvation Army has provided emergency services to individuals and communities affected by disasters and other catastrophic events. Locally, The Salvation Army thrift store accepts donated goods and sells them to help support the community. There are many different ways to donate money to The Salvation Army. One way to donate is to put money in a red kettle at Christmas time. There are other ways, however, that you can donate year round.
