Temporary Housing

Lodging arrangements may be made in advance of your arrival by calling the Navy Gateway Inns & Suites at 301-342-3601. Another option is the Navy Lodge on base at 301-737-2400 or 800-628-9466 for worldwide reservations. Once you check in at the Command Duty Office (Administration Building 409) or your command check-in point, you will be directed to check in at the Navy Gateway Inns & Suites (Building 406). Go to the front desk with a copy of your orders. The front desk clerk will assign you a room according to your status.

Eligibility

For Permanent Change of Station (PCS) orders, if you are a single E-4 and below,  report to Bachelor Quarters for billeting; E-5 and above must lodge at the Navy Lodge or Navy Gateway Inns & Suites (NGIS) until billeting is approved. For transient orders (TAD), NGIS must be contacted first for lodging. If there is no availability for lodging at NGIS or the Navy Lodge, all members must get a Certificate of Non-Availability (CNA) from lodging authorizing them to stay off base.

Geographical bachelors must put in a request for permanent geographical bachelor berthing to be decided by the Geographical Bachelor Board. Note: Geographical Bachelor space is extremely limited.

Availability

Reservations at the Navy Lodge should be made well in advance, but priority is given to service members on PCS orders.  If the NGIS has no space, families are referred to the Navy Lodge on base at 301-737-2400 or 800-628-9466 for worldwide reservations. If there is no room at the NGIS or Navy Lodge or you have pets, please check the internet for nearby hotels/motels to our location. A helpful website for this purpose can be found here.

Length of Stay

This depends upon the time of year, and occupancy rate for either facility. Normally, a 7 to 10 day stay is possible. You should contact the facility to determine this information prior to your arrival.

Pets

As is the case in most temporary Government Lodging, pets are not allowed to stay in the NGIS rooms. The Navy Lodge has a few rooms where pets are allowed to stay with residents. There is a one-time, non-refundable “pet-fee” of $50.00 for 1 to 6 night stays. The fee then goes up to $100 for 7-30 day stays. It is highly recommended you sort out your pet kenneling arrangements prior to your arrival, and budget accordingly ($35 - $50 a day, depending upon the species/size/number of pets). There are helpful websites that can assist in locating "Pet Friendly" temporary lodging.

Check with the Housing Service Center at 301-342-3846 for their housing and rental listings and apply in advance for base housing if possible. Please be sure to research your options prior to arrival.
