Contact information for key programs and services at this installation.
When you arrive at your new installation, you’ll need to follow installation-specific procedures. Each installation and service handles in-processing differently. Here, you can find installation-specific guidelines and a list of documents to bring with you when checking- in. Reach out to the contacts provided if you have specific questions.
Newly arriving personnel reporting to Naval Air Station Whidbey Island must check-in with the station Officer of the Deck, 360-257-2631 at the base quarterdeck in Building 385. The quarterdeck is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Personnel attached to NAS commands will then be instructed to report to the NAS Admin Office, topside in Building 385.
Base-wide indoctrination briefings are held monthly and are open for family members to attend. Another opportunity for spouses to get in-depth information about the Navy lifestyle and NASWI programs is to attend the Fleet and Family Support Center's New Spouse Orientation workshop which is held once a quarter. For more information or to sign up for the next class, please call 360-257-6289 or 360-257-2271.
Tenant Command or Squadron
Those personnel checking in to a tenant command or squadron should report to their respective duty office. If the command is deployed, check-in with the OOD at the base quarterdeck in Building 385 to be referred to the correct administrative wing for in-processing. The OOD can be contacted at 360-257-2631. For a list of tenant commands and squadrons to include duty phone numbers, please visit the Major Unit Listings tab.
Active duty service members should bring their orders for in-processing. If you get married enroute, make sure you have your original marriage certificate plus your new spouse's birth certificate, social security card, and a photo ID. This will allow you to get an ID card for your new spouse, have them added to your page 2, and give them access to medical assistance. For school aged children, bring a copy of school records to speed up the process of appropriate school placement and continued educational plans.
A maximum of 14 days of Temporary Lodging Expense (TLE) is authorized for each Permanent Change of Station to this area. It is in your best interest to make temporary lodging arrangements as soon as possible due to seasonal tourist events and limited availability. Reservations at the Navy Lodge can be made up to one year in advance with orders by calling toll free 800-628-9466 or booking online at Navy Lodge - Whidbey Island. The Navy Lodge is located on the Seaplane Base and is within walking distance to the main Navy Exchange and Commissary.
Navy Gateway Inns and Suites is available to incoming personnel and located on the Ault Field Base. To make a reservation go Navy Gateway Inns & Suites or call toll-free 877-628-9233.
Both the Navy Lodge and Navy Gateway Inns and Suites have pet-friendly rooms.
If you have not been assigned a sponsor, contact your gaining command to request one. Having a sponsor can make this relocation experience less stressful and they can provide you with information specific to you and your family's needs. It is highly recommended you contact your command or sponsor prior to arrival so they can meet you at the base and assist you with the check-in process.
If you are planning to take leave (either personal or for house hunting), please inform your command and make sure you follow the correct procedures such as submitting a leave request prior to making plans.
If you get married after you receive orders but before your Permanent Change of Station you MUST inform your command as soon as possible and follow the procedures exactly as they are given. The military will NOT pay for travel and housing of your spouse if you do not follow proper procedures.
