Medical Care
Primary Care clinics provide patient-centered care to active duty, retirees, and eligible family members who are TRICARE Prime enrollees. These services range from routine visits, health maintenance, minor surgical procedures, pediatric counseling, patient education and services for selected specialty care areas. Urgent and emergent pediatric consultations are available upon direct provider referral. In addition, referrals are also provided for specialty care services not available in the facility. To improve access to your team for non-urgent issues, sign up for online email communication with your provider. Visit the Military Health System GENESIS patient portal ( https://myaccess.dmdc.osd.mil/identitymanagement/app/login );mso-spacerun:yes and register to sign up for this option.
To make an appointment with a Primary Care clinic, call the Puget Sound Military Appointing Center at 800-404-4506, Monday-Friday, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Saturday-Sunday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. A nurse provider line is available 24 hours a day. Call 800-TRICARE or 800-874-2273, option 1.
When you move, TRICARE moves with you. No matter where you go in the world, TRICARE is there before, during and when you get to your next duty station.
There are steps you need to take to make sure changes to your TRICARE coverage go smoothly. Understand that when you move, you may have to use a different TRICARE option. Visit TRICARE Moving to learn more.
Before you move, you should take care of any routine medical needs, including immunizations, and fill your prescriptions so you have enough while traveling. If you need care during your move, visit TRICARE Getting Care When Traveling to learn what to do.
Filling prescriptions while traveling
You should refill prescriptions before traveling. But if you run out of a prescription drug while traveling, visit TRICARE Filling Prescriptions When Traveling.
Getting dental care while traveling
Getting dental care while traveling depends on your location and whether you are a service member or family member.
With permanent change of station orders, ask for a copy of your medical and dental records from your military treatment facility and the dental treatment facility. Do this at least one month before your PCS date. The MTF should also transfer a copy of your record and any family records to your new duty station or you may be able to hand carry them to your new duty station.
If you want someone else to be able to get medical or dental information on you or your family while you are moving, you need to complete a DD Form 2870, "Authorization for Disclosure of Medical or Dental Information."
For more information on getting copies of medical records, visit TRICARE Request Copies of Medical Records.
Dental Care
The dental clinic provides care to the installation's active-duty community only. Because of the overwhelming demand for dental care for the active-duty population, routine dental care cannot be provided for non-active-duty beneficiaries. Active-duty members are strongly encouraged to enroll their family members in the TRICARE Family Member Dental Plan (United Concordia) to ensure they get the dental care they are entitled to.
Call 360-257-2302 for active-duty routine appointments. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. After-hours emergency dental care is provided by the WhidbeyHealth or Island Health emergency departments. Dental has sick call walk-in clinics Monday through Friday, 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. and 1 to 2 p.m.
Optometry
The optometry clinic provides routine eye exams to active-duty patients. Call the PSMAC at 800-404-4506 to make an appointment. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The office is closed for lunch from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
