School-Age Care / Youth Camps – Child Care - Youth Center/Before and After School Care
Before and after care is provided for children kindergarten – 12 years of age. Full day care is offered when school is closed for teacher workdays, fall break, winter break, and spring break. Summer camp is offered for children completing kindergarten through 12 years of age.
Teen Program-Youth/Teen Center
The SUBASE Kings Bay Youth Center is a recreational program that provides activities, socialization and opportunities to grow in leadership and community service. The teen program provides opportunities for more than attendance and participation. Teen programs require youth commitment and responsibility for developing programs. The teens are encouraged to take ownership of the program. Through participation in teen programs, the youth can create opportunities to discover new dimensions in their community and within themselves. A wealth of creative, supervised youth activities are available through the Youth Center. The activities are designed to be fun, promote physical fitness and develop lifelong recreation skills.
Teen Employment (No Grants at this time NOV 2022)
The SUBASE Kings Bay Youth Center is often issued a grant that provides teens with the opportunity to work in Child & Youth Programs, MWR, or FFSC. Teens go through the hiring process with classes on interviewing and creating your resume. The teens that are selected are put into jobs at one of three programs located on base. The teens are responsible for orientation, timekeeping process, and job duties. Information about the Kings Bay Teen Program and upcoming events is available at 'MWR Kings Bay Teens'.
Summer Camp
The SUBASE Kings Bay Youth Center provides summer camp during the time that the local schools are out for the summer.
Eligibility and Enrollment
The status of the sponsor determines the eligibility of the child/children to enroll into the program. Eligible patrons include military personnel, DoD civilian personnel paid from appropriated and non-appropriated funds, reservists on active duty or inactive duty for training, and active duty Coast Guard. In the case of geographically separated parents meeting the above criteria who are also divorced, the child is only eligible for services if residing with the military sponsor. Fees are based on Total Family Income.

Program
Youth Sponsorship is a program that is put in place to work with the School-age and Teen programs to connect with new students that are transferring from one base to another. The program provides connections with other students, tours, and a "new friend" the first day of school and opportunity to find out more about the Teen Program and our community.

Programs Offered
The Youth Sports and Fitness (YSF) Program provides opportunities for children to participate in a variety of sports programs. Participants are taught the rules, skills, and team building for each sport, in a safe, fun, and recreational atmosphere. The activities are designed to be fun, promote physical fitness and develop lifelong recreation skills.
There are some great things about your move to South Georgia. SUBASE Kings Bay is a modern Navy Base with superb facilities and a wealth of recreational services. St. Mary’s has a beautiful historical downtown area with parks, fishing piers, bike paths, and frequent Special Events that attract members of all ages. The base is located less than an hour from airport, museums, concerts, shopping malls, and city life. Cumberland Island in Georgia and Amelia Island close by in Northeast Florida have wonderful beaches and lovely weather which is conducive to outdoor fun.
