Check-in Procedures

Most newcomers arrive in Naples at Capodichino International Airport. Sponsors will provide transportation to those newcomers. Please keep your sponsor advised of your arrival date.

All sponsors need to make sure their sponsorees are registered for Area Orientation and review the necessary paperwork that will be shared upon registration.

Area Orientation

Naval Support Activity Naples Area Orientation is mandatory for active-duty military, civilian, contractor and command-sponsored dependents over the age of 18. Area Orientation shall be completed within 30 days of arriving to NSA Naples. Completion of this program is a prerequisite for receipt of driving privileges.

Step 1

• The newcomers' sponsors will need to sign them up for in-person Area Orientation. To sign up incoming personnel or yourself for the Area Orientation Brief, please fill out the online form.
• If you wish, you can also register by sending an email. The command, assigned sponsor or newcomer will have the ability to register. The following information is needed for enrollment: newcomer name, rank/GS level, personal email address, command, date of arrival, and assigned sponsor name and contact information.
• Upon registration, the assigned command sponsor and the newcomer will be provided with links to the Area Orientation packet that includes forms needed during and after Area Orientation for things such as Sojourners paperwork, driver’s license application, etc. Also included will be a base map and local area maps. The sponsor may also pick up a hardcopy of the AO packet at the Fleet and Family Support Center Front Desk prior to newcomer arrival.

Step 2

• Once signed up for Area Orientation, the newcomer will attend AO for the dates and location assigned.
• During AO, the newcomer will take their driver’s test, turn-in medical paperwork, enroll in TRICARE and be briefed by supporting departments.

Step 3

• Last part of Area Orientation is the ICR trip, which is generally held on Friday, during the AO week.
