Your Military and Family Support Center provides relocation assistance to help make PCS moves as smooth as possible. Resources include:
The Relocation Assistance Program is designed to assist personnel as they move into and out of the Naples area. Area Orientation introduces service members, DOD Civilians and families to the Naples community. AO also includes in-processing paperwork for PSD, Medical/Dental and Legal as well as speakers who will be assisting with POV, personal property, and housing needs. You will be invited to a "Meet and Greet" that will also introduce you to some of the major programs including adult education, off-duty recreation, religious programs and many others. Smooth Move workshops are to help departing personnel and families prepare to PCS out. Topics include information on final bill payments, contracts, and household goods shipment. Installation Specific Information
Sponsorship Training - Training is regularly held every other month in the Fleet and Family Support Center or the base theater. It offers the basic knowledge needed to become an effective sponsor.
InterCultural Relations - Separate from ICR for newcomers which is incorporated into Area Orientation, these seminars are usually ½ to 1 day long where various aspects of Italian Culture such as festivals and customs are explored in both a classroom as well as a hands on experience. Enthusiastic and knowledgeable Italians run the program and will welcome you to their country by providing you with more in-depth and detailed information about the Italian culture.
Smooth Move Workshop - Attend this workshop when you are ready to transfer to your next duty station. It is a four hour seminar that brings representatives from Housing, CMVRO, PSD, the School Liaison Officer, Quality of Life, TriCare, and Personal Property to brief you on common moving issues specific to the Naples region. You can sign up for this workshop at the FFSC.
Information and Referral (I&R) - This program provides a service with which members and their families can find out what is offered and how to access the services they want or need. Typically, the I&R Program provides basic information such as organization names, telephone numbers, and addresses. In Naples the I&R office also runs a "Loaner Closet" program where transiting personnel can borrow the following items: Kitchen kit (pots, pans, dishes, silverware etc), ironing board/iron and more.
Naples Area Orientation - Provided by Fleet and Family Services. Area Orientation is typically scheduled on a bi-weekly basis, normally Wednesday-Friday, unless it is a week that a holiday falls. Your sponsor is responsible for ensuring you have transportation for Area Orientation. The Day after you arrive you check in with your command-your sponsor is responsible for assuring that you are properly gained by your command. All family members of Active-Duty Army and Air Force personnel are required to apply for Soujourner's Permit at JFC Naples Provost Marshall's Office. You will be briefed by numerous organizations, turn in your Medical and Dental Records, and apply for TRICARE. You will meet with the Housing Welcome Center where you will apply for Economy or Government Housing and start making appointment to be escorted to available housing.
On Wednesday and Thursday is when base and community familiarization briefs take place. To include driver’s license testing. On Thursday morning all community organizations set up a meet and greet where you can learn about volunteer opportunities, sports and activity programs and community resources. Wednesday is also the day of Intercultural Relations brief run by extremely enthusiastic and knowledgeable Italians. They will welcome you to their country, and your new home, by providing you with basic information about the Italian culture, customs and traditions. Thursday's schedule includes additional information and the collection of documentation for anyone needing to be processed for a Soujourner's Permit. The final day of Area Orientation will be spent in town discovering the Italian lifestyle, facilitated by an ICR Specialist.
