If you need emergency assistance, you can expect to get help from your installation, your branch of service resources. There are programs to support you in a variety of situations, including victim assistance, emergencies en route and service-specific relief societies. Below, you’ll find types of assistance, contact information, and detailed procedures and guidance to help you through any tough circumstances that you or your family may face.

The American Red Cross provides help for members of the military, veterans and their families to prepare for, cope with and respond to the challenges of military service.

The Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society(NMCRS) offers a variety of financial, educational, and other assistance to members of the Naval Services of the United States, eligible family members, and survivors when in need.
Specifically, financial assistance and counseling along with emergency travel is available.

Before you depart, make sure you have all your important papers with you and not packed and on the moving van. Make a list of telephone numbers of key points of contacts at your new duty station. Include this list among your important papers. Important phones numbers could be the command duty officer, your sponsor and new unit number. These can be invaluable in case of an emergency while in transit.
