Child and Youth Programs provide child development and recreational services for children 6 weeks to 12 years of age. The Indian Head Child Development Center (CDC) provides full and part day care for children 6 weeks to 5 years. Children are grouped according to age: infants, pre-toddlers, twos, threes, fours and fives. The daily schedule is divided into active and quiet playtime and is designed to support the child's most important years of growth and learning. Children who stay at the centers will have the opportunity to establish and maintain friendships and become responsible for their actions through self-discipline. Art and music activities are offered, as well as, units on number recognition, holidays, seasons, health, safety and family structure.
The Indian Head CDC is located in Bldg 1901 and can be reached at 301-744-4458.
CDC facilities are open to children of active-duty service members, active reservists, Department of Defense employees and DoD contractors. The sponsor must provide proof of eligibility and employment.
Rates for childcare at the CDC are based on total family income.
Child Development Homes (CDH) increases the availability of qualified childcare services for families at Indian Head. The program provides certified caregivers for children between six weeks and 12 years of age in the local community.
CDH offers great employment opportunities for military spouses; providers work out of their homes, care for children and have the flexibility to set their own hours and fees.
