Policies and rules for shipping pets vary at each installation. It’s important to understand the regulations, prohibitions and laws at your new installation before moving with a pet. Below, you’ll find installation-specific details for registering, boarding and transporting your pet.
There are no local pet quarantines, however if you plan on boarding your pets upon arrival they must have all current vaccinations to include current rabies certificate. We do have some pet friendly hotels in the area if you do not want to board your pets.
Citizens are required to have a Brevard County Animal License tag for dogs and cats. Tags cost $10 and can be purchased at the Brevard Animal Service and Enforcement department on Eau Gallie Road in Melbourne or at a limited number of veterinary clinics and animal shelters. All dogs, cats, and ferrets are required to have a current rabies vaccination certificate before you can obtain a license. The certificate must be presented to Brevard County Animal Services.
Brevard County also enforces a leash law.
Brevard County Animal Services on Eau Gallie Boulevard is open seven days a week and can be reached at: 321-633-2024.
