Temporary Housing Overview

With certain military moves, you may find yourself looking for housing that’s a little less permanent before making long-term arrangements. There are several temporary housing options that may be right for you. Explore the information about temporary housing facilities including allowances, lodging rates and eligibility.

Upon arrival, you and your family may stay at the Carolina Pines Inn, one of the Air Force's finest facilities. Reservations may be made for members on orders by calling 803-895-3803. Make your reservations as soon as possible.

Check-in time is 2 p.m. daily. You will need a credit card to hold the reservation if you plan to arrive after 6 PM. Be sure to check with the Carolina Pines Inn (base lodging office) prior to checking into a hotel downtown. If there are no rooms available, ask for a "statement of non-availability" and a list of "contract quarters" for approved off-base hotels. Without this form, you will not be reimbursed for the cost of staying off base.

If you are single person, check with your unit regarding the policy for temporary lodging for unaccompanied personnel, or contact your sponsor for assistance. There are no unaccompanied officers quarters available to accommodate permanent party officers. Lodging costs are $89-$97 per night. We have 11 pet friendly family units. Lodging is on first-come, first-served basis.

Wateree Recreation Area

Offering 16 cabins, 22 recreational vehicle sites, tent camping and seasonal lake swimming, Wateree Recreation Area is designed for the recreational enjoyment of military members, their families, retirees and all other authorized DoD customers. Come up to South Carolina’s Olde English District for the day to swim or have a cookout or stay all season long at one of our full service RV sites. Wateree offers something for everyone!
