Contact information for key programs and services at this installation.
Health care services provided by the Defense Department are available to you and your family at your installation. We know that finding the right health care is important, especially in special circumstances such as emergency or during recent move. Here, you’ll find information and options about the services you have regarding healthcare.
For medical emergencies, patients should go directly to the nearest American or Host Nation medical facility. Patients requiring emergency transportation should call Emergency Services at 112 (Commercial). You may also call the MP station at 0611-143-531-2677 for assistance or 116 (DSN).
For 24-hour medical advice, call the toll-free Nurse Advice Line at: 800-825-1600.
Baumholder, like most military installations in the Kaiserslautern Military Community, maintains a clinic on the installation. Patients should use the TRICARE Online website or call ahead and make appointments in appropriate clinics to minimize waiting time.
Obstetrics care is provided at the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center.
All enrollees should have a designated Primary Care Manager. If you do not know who your PCM is, look on TOL or ask next time you call for any appointments. For patients requiring specialty consultations or hospitalization services for non-emergency conditions, Baumholder Army Health Clinic staff will refer them to an American facility when possible. We are an easy 40-minute drive from the Army's European referral hospital, Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, which is about 26 miles away. LRMC offers state-of-the-art medical specialties. Expectant mothers are evaluated and cared for throughout their pregnancy at LRMC and through the delivery of their babies. At times, expected mothers may choose to be cared for and have deliveries at host nation medical facilities. To complement our many services, we enjoy a close association with neighboring German hospitals. Our large communities nearby each have emergency rooms. Those are in Birkenfeld, Idar-Oberstein and Kusel. They all provide quality care, including 24-hour-a-day emergency rooms.

Getting dental care while traveling
Getting dental care while traveling depends on your location and whether you are a service member or family member.
With permanent change of station orders, ask for a copy of your medical and dental records from your military treatment facility and the dental treatment facility. Do this at least one month before your PCS date. The MTF should also transfer a copy of your record and any family records to your new duty station or you may be able to hand carry them to your new duty station.
If you want someone else to be able to get medical or dental information on you or your family while you are moving, you need to complete a DD Form 2870, "Authorization for Disclosure of Medical or Dental Information."
For more information on getting copies of medical records, visit TRICARE Request Copies of Medical Records.
